Purpose : This study aimed to develop a curriculum for cadets who enter Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy from 2018 to 2021.
Methods : Using the competency-based curriculum development process, the authors reviewed literature, interviewed focus groups, and conducted modified-Delphi method. Focus group interviews were done with faculty and cadets at KAFNA, middle managers and junior officers in military healthcare settings. Modified Delphi method has been implemented to verify the validity of the developed curriculum with a panel of 14 experts. The curriculum was finalized through a public hearing and the steering committee of education in KAFNA.
Results : The curriculum of 146 credits was developed with six core competencies, six educational objectives, and eight program outcomes linked to one another. The Delphi for the newly developed curriculum demonstrated the average content validity ratio (CVR) of .86, a convergence level of .91, and a consensus degree of .21.
Conclusion : The curriculum was successfully developed with high consensus. However, it should continue to be renewed and updated to educate and train the cadets as excellent nursing officers, as the society, the military, and the healthcare environment will not stop changing.
